This is the Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept Car with Polished Aluminum Body. Yes…aluminum. No easy feat. Diecast model cars are typically cast using zinc alloy, as it’s easier to cast. Aluminum alloy, on the other hand, is much harder to work with. And very few model car makers would attempt to manually polish this cast aluminum alloy to a high gloss finish….with the end result requiring more than 130 minutes of trained manual labor to bring the whole body to this lustrous finish. The effort put into creating realism in this small version is apparent in every detail.
